Newborn Session FAQ
Newborns are truly my favorite subject to photograph.
Capturing the newness of life is a passion of mine, and I bring a gentle, soothing approach to every session. Many of my clients leave saying I must be a “baby whisperer” — a title I proudly embrace! Newborns stay little for such a short time, and I love preserving all those fleeting, precious details before they change. As Brooklyn’s premier newborn photographer, my work is known for its timeless style, soft posing, and ability to beautifully capture your baby’s earliest days.
When should I schedule my newborn session?
It’s never too early to reserve your newborn session!
As soon as you know your due date, we place it on the calendar to ensure availability around your delivery. I carefully book only a limited number of newborns each month to accommodate early or late arrivals without stress. Planning ahead guarantees a spot during that sweet early window when babies are still tiny, sleepy, and beautifully curled up.
If your baby has already arrived, don’t worry — reach out and I’ll do my best to fit you in!
Is two weeks old too late for a newborn session?
Not at all — two weeks old is actually ideal!
I find that around 10 to 18 days is the perfect time for a newborn session. Your baby is still small and sleepy, but you’ve had a little time to recover and bond. Sessions are relaxed and unhurried, lasting about 3 to 4 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and breaks whenever needed. When you and your baby are ready, I’m ready!
What should my baby wear?
Everything you need for the session is provided!
I have a curated collection of soft wraps, delicate bonnets, headbands, and props sourced from the finest artisans around the world — all ready to create beautifully styled portraits.
You’re also welcome to bring any special personal items, like a favorite blanket or family heirloom, to make your portraits even more meaningful.
How should I prepare for my newborn session?
To help ensure a smooth session, I recommend keeping your baby awake for about an hour or two before arriving. Dressing your baby loosely in a swaddle or easy-to-remove outfit helps transition gently into the session. Feeding upon arrival keeps babies content and sleepy.
During the session, we feed on demand — whenever baby shows signs of hunger — to ensure their comfort and a relaxed flow.
Can parents be photographed with their newborn?
Absolutely!
I encourage every family to step in for a few portraits — there’s nothing more meaningful than capturing those first tender moments together.
For mom and dad, soft, neutral tones work beautifully — think creams, grays, beiges, soft pastels, or muted earth tones. Skin-to-skin portraits are also a timeless and beautiful option if you’re comfortable.
What is the investment?
My goal is to create heirloom-quality images that you’ll be proud to display in your home for years to come.
I have carefully selected the finest professional labs and curated collections that offer beautiful signature products at excellent value.
